High Care and Intensive Care Induction program

A five-day modular course is presented to employees as well as health care practitioners from other institutions and agencies with the main purpose of upskilling staff working in the High care and Intensive Care environment. The induction course also serves as a good start for Registered nurses and Enrolled nurses looking to enter these specialised units for the first time. The program includes the anatomy, physiology and nursing implications of all the bodily systems in line with the Scientific Nursing Process.

The course is further extended to include a 5-day practical accompaniment by a clinical training specialist for nursing staff who have not yet gained experience in the High care and Intensive Care environment. Practical accompaniment ensures that the nurse is orientated to the specialised environment under the supervision of a well-seasoned and specialised training specialist.

All 5 days must be attended in one course, starting at Module 1. After completing the 5 modules a test will be written with a minimum pass rate. If the pass rate is achieved, a certificate of attendance will be issued.
